To Draw a Shape
To draw a shape manually, use the following procedure.
snappingpoints to. Otherwise, shapes are placed free-hand to the nearest point selected. To do so, select View > Grid and then specify the spacing of gridlines in x and y directions.

Select one of the shape tools in the Shape
toolbar:
To place a… Select the… solid rectangle (i.e., bar or plate) Rectangle tool hollow rectangle (i.e., tube or rhs) Hollow Rectangle tool solid circle (i.e., round bar or cylinder) Circle tool hollow circle (i.e., pipe or chs) Tube tool closed polygon (i.e., filled irregular shape) Closed Polygon tool open polygon (i.e., cold-formed shape) Open Polygon tool -
Use the following mouse controls for the selected shape type:
For a… rectangle or hollow rectangle click-and-drag the mouse cursor from opposing diagonal corners circle or tube click-and-drag the mouse cursor from the center to the radius closed or open polygon click each vertex of the shape and then righ-click and select OK from the pop-up menu when finished Note: If you have the grid toggled on, the points willsnap
to the nearest grid intersection. -
For hollow rectangles, tubes, and open polygons, enter the wall thickness and
then click OK.
For hollow rectangles, the flange (top and bottom) may be different than the web (sides).
