Shape Editor
The Shape Editor application is used to create custom profiles, built-up shapes, and other profiles and save them as User-Provided Tables for use in STAAD.Pro.
Shape Editor uses the term section
to refer to a structural cross sectional shape
and its associated sectional properties that is stored in the Sections Library.
The term shape
is used to refer to a geometric shape such as a polygon, circle, or
rectangle or an assemblage of these shapes. A section is made up of one or more
shapes.
Standard Database Files
Shape Editor operates with standard database files (.db3) available with STAAD.Pro.
Material Library
Limitations
-
Only the
Steel
material library is currently available for use in the Shape Editor. -
For
UNKOWN
shapes, the properties AY, AZ, TD, and TB cannot be determined. Those properties will be set to zero (0) by default when exporting to a UPT. However, if the profile points are exported, then after importing the UPT into STAAD.Pro, the program can calculate the property values. -
If imported shapes comprising of profile points only contain curved segments, then the plastic section moduli are approximate values. For example, for shapes created in Section Wizard FreeSketch and then imported as .cns or .con files.
