Standard Profile Database Wizard

Used to create a custom profile database and manually enter table data.

Database Info

Used to specify the general information of the database.

Setting Description
Filename Required file name for the new database file.

The file extension (.db3) will be added. The maximum length of the file name is 50 characters. The default value is ProfileDatabase.

Title The title of the database to display in the tree view (in both the Standard Profile Databases dialog and the Section Database Manager application).
Version Optional version information for the database.
Description Optional description text for the database.
Country/ Manufacturer Optional country or manufacturer name for the database.
Profiles Required profile type of the database sections.
Icon The icon to display in the tree view (in both the Standard Profile Databases dialog and the Section Database Manager application).

Click Browse to locate a raster image file (type .bmp or .png) that is 16x16 pixels.

Table Info

Used to manually add tables of profiles to the database.

Setting Description
Name Required table name. The maximum length of the file name is 30 characters.
Source Optional reference name or link to source for table data.
Version Optional version information for the table (can be different than for the database).
Shape Select the profile shape from the drop-down list. The fields in the columns table update accordingly.

Each shape has a specific set of required fields, as indicated by the inactive Include check box in the columns table.

Unit System Select the system of units used.
columns table Displays each of the table columns as a row here.
  • Field - the ID of the property. This is used by the application. By default, new fields will use the Title value for the Field name.
  • Include - use to include the field in the table. Unchecking will exclude this field from the database. Those fields which are required may not be unchecked.
  • Description - type an additional description for the column. These will be displayed as tool-tips on the column titles.
  • Title - the column label displayed in the section database.
  • Units - select the units to use for this value from the drop-down list.

Click the empty area below labeled Click here to add new item to add a new field.

Click Add Table to add a new table to the database.

Limitations on use of Standard Database Profiles

The following features of STAAD.Pro are not able to use Standard database sections:

  • Member select and member select optimized commands are not supported for Standard database sections.
  • Structlink Import / Export
  • STAAD.Pro Physical Modeler
  • OpenSTAAD
  • PipeLink for STAAD.Pro
  • Foundation Design workflow
  • Connection Design workflow
