How To Place Pipe

Components are typically connected to other components or placed at known distances to one another. However, you may want to place a component "in space"; that is, at a specific location or coordinate with no respect to other component locations.
Note: It is suggested that the user should be proficient with the AccuDraw tool when routing pipe in OpenPlant Modeler .
Note: If placing a duct W.R.T. to the active point of a bend component, refer to the Snap to an Active Point of an Elbow topic for details.
  1. Open the Standard Preferences dialog and set the pipeline, specification and component values.
  2. Select one of the Pipe options from the Piping galleries.
  3. Pick the Placement Point for the pipe in the Place Component dialog.
Note: If you plan to route continuous pipe segments with bends included in the run, enable the AutoFitting option and define the desired settings.
  4. Pick a point in the drawing, or input the (x,y,z) coordinates in the AccuDraw window. An outline of the component displays.
  5. Pick another point in the drawing or enter the (x,y,z) coordinates in the AccuDraw window to draw the pipe.
  6. Right-click to end the procedure or continue picking points in the drawing to route additional pipe segments.
Note: If the AutoFitting option was enabled, then either a pipe bend or an elbow will automatically be placed at any bend in the line you are routing.
  7. Right-click to end the current placement procedure.
Note: By default, the command remains active until you select another command option.
