Data Acquisition

Data Acquisition is the process of identifying, collecting, and importing as much of the'"as operated" representative data as possible into the Digital Twin.

Your PlantSight administrator should create PlantSight projects based on the parameters of your organization's definition of the Digital Twin, such as Facility, Plant, Unit, etc., configure import templates, and assignment user roles that allow data import.

The following topics detail how to access the PlantSight Data Acquisition service and import data into the Digital Twin (accessing your project, selecting the Data Acquisition service item, create and execute imports of various types of 1D, 2D and 3D data).

Importable Data Types

Type Examples
1D Data are data that consists primarily of, but not limited to, lists of as operated plant information. This data may or may not be associated to any other files in the plant repository of information. These lists are anticipated to be in Excel format, or a format easily put into that format.
  • Equipment lists
  • Motor lists
  • Valve lists
  • Instrument lists
  • Line lists
2D Data are files that are graphic in nature but have embedded data associated to the graphics. Generally, 2D data is regarded as intelligent PID's with the associated data.
  • AutoCAD 2D
  • Proteus
3D data are model files with embedded data associated to the graphics. These models are regarded as intelligent 3D models created in an integrated format.
  • OpenPlant - these models are directly added to the Digital Twin by iModel
  • AutoPLANT Modeler - imported to the Digital Twin via format specific iModel bridge
  • AVEVA PDMS/E3D- imported to the Digital Twin via format specific iModel bridge
  • Intergraph Smart 3D- imported to the Digital Twin via format specific iModel bridge
