OpenPlant Modeler Help

To Place a Multiple Spools over a Total Length

  1. Set the size and spec in the Standard Preferences dialog before selecting the Spool Piece option. By default, the Spool Piece components are stored in the EX-OPM spec, which is shipped with OpenPlant Modeler .
  2. Select the Spool Piece option from the Piping taskbar.
  3. When the Spec Record Selection dialog displays, select one of the option from the list and click OK to continue.
  4. In the Place Component dialog check the Enable option under the Auto-Placement tab.
  5. Enable the Total Length option and enter a value into the field.
  6. (Optional): Enable the Total length includes seal length. When this is enabled, the last spool length is trimmed to accommodate for the length of the seals placed at each joint.
  7. When you enter a total length, the Number of Pieces field (which is disabled) will update with the approximate number of spool pieces needed for the total length.
Note: This number uses the spool length defined in the Operating Conditions tab.
  8. Select a placement point and direction for the first spool piece. If connecting to an existing component, snap to the end of the component.

The Spec Record Selection dialog displays listing gasket option to place at the joint.

  9. Select an option from the dialog and click OK.
  10. When the Spec Record Selection dialog displays again, make a selection on the bolt type to use for the joint.
  11. Click OK to continue. The same gaskets and fasteners will be used for subsequent joints.

A progress dialog will display until the placement is complete.

  12. Right-click to end the command.
