Text

The following enhancements are made to Text tools.

Text Editor

The "Text Editor - Word Processor" window is now renamed as "Text Editor". The following settings are added to the Text Editor icon bar.

  • Insert Favorites - Allows you to store and reuse commonly used text. Favorites are also auto-generated based on the associated properties of the target element.
  • Text Style - Sets the Active Text Style from a list of all available text styles.
  • Font Height - Displays the font height in working units as well as pixels. You can change any of the values and the other will be automatically recalculated and displayed.
  • Text Foreground Color - Sets the color of the text.
  • Justification - Sets the justification of the text.

The display fidelity of the Text Editor is improved and now it matches exactly to what is shown in the view with word wrapping support.

Place Text Tool

The Place Text tool's settings are now simplified. The following settings are removed and now need to be set either in the Text Styles dialog or Text Editor window.

  • Text Style
  • Height and Width
  • Font
  • Justification
  • Line spacing
  • Interchar Spacing
  • Method - Above Element, Below Element, On Element, Along Element. These methods are now included in the Place Text Along tool.

The Apply changes to all text setting is now moved to the Preferences dialog Text category.

You also have the ability to create relative associations with the element to which the text is associated. You can also update fields in the text, if the text is associated.

Place Text Along Tool

The Place Text Along is a new tool added to place text relative to a line segment (line element or segment of a line string, shape, or multi-line).

Place Note Tool

The Place Note tool's settings are now simplified. The following settings are removed and now need to be set in the Text Styles dialog, Dimension Styles dialog, or Text Editor window.

  • Text Frame
  • Height and Width
  • Leader Type

The Apply changes to all text setting is now moved to the Preferences dialog Text category.

You also have the ability to create relative associations with the element to which the note is associated. You can also update fields in the notes, if the notes are associated.

Spell Checker

The Spell Checker dialog is now renamed as "Spelling" dialog. The Spelling dialog is redesigned and simplified for use.

Also, the Edit User Dictionary dialog is renamed as Manage User Dictionary dialog and is redesigned and simplified for use.
