Automatic Combinations dialog

This dialog is used to generate a series of load combinations automatically using code-prescribed rules.

Opens when the Automatic Combinations tool is selected in the Loads group on the Model ribbon tab.

ControlDescription
Code Select the building code to use for combinations.
Table Select the combination table to use. These correspond to the table numbers from the selected code.
Manage Rules Click to open the Automatic Load Combination Manager window. This program is used to edit load combination rules, enable notional loads to applied for certain load cases in combinations, and to select the combination method.
Include Load Groups Check to include load groups in generated load combinations.
Note: This is similar to using a reference load in the Analytical Modeling worfklow.
Note: If this option is inactive, then you must first select the REPEAT Primary Load Cases option on the Options dialog Analysis model tab.
Include Notional Check this option to include notional loads. Type the Notional Factor to use for generating notional loads (default value is 0.002). When notional loads are generated, each load combination results in the following four varied load combinations:
  1. positive notional factor in X direction
  2. negative notional factor in X direction
  3. positive notional factor in Z direction
  4. negative notional factor in Z direction
Note: If this option is inactive, then you must first select the REPEAT Primary Load Cases option on the Options dialog Analysis model tab.
Combinations to create Click to display a drop-down list of all the load combinations to be generated. You can uncheck those combinations you want to skip.
Analysis set Select the analysis set with which you want to associate the automatically generated load combinations.
Note: This option is only available when the REPEAT Primary Load Cases option for Combination Load Cases is selected in the Options dialog Analysis model tab.
