To add automatic load combinations

To create a set of automatic load combinations based on building code rules, use the following procedure.

You must have one or more load cases with the load type assigned. The type is used by the program to apply the load combination rules.
  1. On the Model ribbon tab, select the Automatic Combinations tool in the Loads group.

    The Automatic Combinations dialog opens.
  2. Select the Code to use for the load combination rules. The list of Tables updates.
  3. Select the Table to use for the code rules.
  4. (Optional) Type the Starting combination number if you want to adjust this.
  5. (Optional) Check the Include Notional option to include notional loads where applicable.
    Note: If this option is inactive, then you must first select the REPEAT Primary Load Cases option on the Options dialog Analysis model tab.
  6. Click Generate. A list of load combinations are added to the Combinations to create drop-down list.
  7. Click the Combinations to create and then select the combinations to create:

    check the load combinations individually

    or

    check Select all to include all generated combinations

  8. Select an Analysis set with which you want to associate the automatically generated load combinations.
    Note: This option is only available when the REPEAT Primary Load Cases option for Combination Load Cases is selected in the Options dialog Analysis model tab.
  9. Click OK.
