Joint Design

RAM Structural System has implemented a design check of the steel moment resisting (rigid) frame joints. This check involves evaluating the ability of a column’s flanges and web to resist the shears and concentrated forces imposed on the joint. Where the column is found inadequate to resist the imposed loads, a web plate and/or stiffeners will be designed. Prior to performing a joint check the engineer should confirm the criteria by which the design is to be performed. These criteria can be viewed and modified through the dialog displayed by invoking the Criteria-Joints menu item.
