Layout - Columns - Assign Eccentricity

The Assign Eccentricity command is only relevant for Steel gravity columns. Column Eccentricity settings are used by the RAM Steel Column Design module in determining unbalanced moments.

Selecting the Layout - Columns - Eccentricity command causes the Assign Column Eccentricity dialog box to appear.

SettingDescription
To modify a column eccentricity:
  1. To calculate Eccentricity as 1/2 the column dimension plus a specified distance, select the Distance + 1/2 Column Dimension option, OR
  2. To calculate Eccentricity as an absolute distance from the column centerline, select the Absolute Distance from Center Line option.
  3. Type a Distance as it applies to the option selected above.
  4. Make the above selections for both the strong and weak axes.
  5. Click the Change button. The Column Eccentricity dialog box will disappear, and the RAM Modeler will be in Column Eccentricity Change Mode.
  6. Select a single column or fence an area of columns for the column eccentricity settings to be changed.

Return to the Column Assign Eccentricity dialog box with the Right Mouse Button or the "D" key.

Return to the Layout - Columns menu with the " M" key.

Clicking the Cancel button or selecting any other RAM Modeler Layout command will end the Layout - Columns - Assign Eccentricity command.
