RAM Structural System Help

The Right Mouse Button and the <D> Key

The right mouse button and the <D> key perform the same operation.

While executing a Layout command, clicking the right mouse button or pressing <D> causes the previously selected Layout dialog box reopen. This allows you to change settings in a command and continue without having to reinvoke the command.

While in any multi-sequence Layout command, right-clicking or pressing the <D> key will terminate that sequence of commands and make the current command's dialog box reappear. This is very useful if a mistake is made in the multi-sequence command. Right-clicking prior to completing the sequence will undo the command and allow you to restart the sequence. It does not, however, remove members laid down during the command sequence prior to right-clicking or pressing the <D> key.

For instance, while using the Layout - Beams - Add Generation command you layout purlins in several bays, highlight the beam line of another bay and then decide you don’t want purlins in that bay. Right-clicking or pressing <D> will remove the highlight on the beam line and return you to the Add Generation dialog box. From there, you can cancel or restart the command sequence. Right-clicking or pressing <D> will not remove the purlins that are already part of the model.

Note: This is the only use of the right mouse button in all the RAM Structural System modules.
