Layout - Columns - Assign Frame Fixity

The Assign Frame Fixity command is only relevant for Lateral Frame columns. Frame Fixity settings are used by the RAM Frame module in frame analysis.

Selecting the Layout - Columns - Assign Frame Fixity command causes the Assign Frame Fixity dialog box to appear.

The Frame Fixity dialog box contains three groups of option buttons: one for the major axis, one for the minor axis and one for torsion. The left set of option buttons in each group pertains to the top of the column on the currently selected floor while the right set of option buttons in each group pertains to the bottom of the column on the currently selected floor.

Columns are assigned the default fixity conditions when they are created. To modify the frame fixity, select the appropriate option button. If the current layout type is used at multiple levels, the new fixity assignment will be made to every occurrence of that column.

Click either Single or Fence.

SettingDescription
Single Click the target cursor on the column whose fixity you would like to change.
Fence Fence an area in which the fixity of all columns will be changed.

Return to the Assign Frame Column Fixity dialog box with the Right Mouse Button or the "D" key.

Clicking the Cancel button or selectingLayout - Columns - Assign Frame Fixity any other RAM Modeler Layout command will end the command.
