User Synchronization Service

ProjectWise User Synchronization Service lets you automatically create a ProjectWise user account in the datasource for each selected Windows domain account. This type of account is referred to as a Windows, synchronized account. Once these types of accounts are added to your datasource, you can then use ProjectWise User Synchronization Service to keep those accounts synchronized with their Windows domain user counterparts.

Configuration and management of ProjectWise User Synchronization Service is performed through the Windows Security System datasource node in ProjectWise Administrator, which is available when the ProjectWise User Synchronization Service Administrator component is installed on top of ProjectWise Administrator.

There are two subnodes under the Windows Security System node, User Synchronization Service and Recent Synchronization Results, in which all user synchronization activity and status is displayed.

The following is the general workflow for setting up and using the ProjectWise User Synchronization Service:

  1. Install ProjectWise Administrator.
  2. On the same computer, install ProjectWise User Synchronization Service (both the Engine and the Administrator).
  3. Make sure the ProjectWise User Synchronization Service is started in the Services window.
  4. Open ProjectWise Administrator and log in to your datasource.
  5. Configure ProjectWise User Synchronization Service (right-click User Synchronization Service and select Properties).
  6. Identify the Windows domain accounts you want to synchronize.
  7. Identify any Windows domain accounts you want ProjectWise User Synchronization Service to ignore.
  8. Run a synchronization.
  9. View the results in one of the Recent Synchronization Results subfolders.
