PlantWise Help

Group Edits

Using PlantWise’s group functionality, you can:

  • Move and rotate collections of equipment, obstacles, pressure safety valves, pipeways, structures, and placeable inline components.
  • Mirror equipment, obstacles, pressure safety valves, pipeways, and placeable inline components.
  • Copy equipment and obstacles.
  • Delete equipment and obstacles.
  • Set the drawing layer for equipment and obstacles.

A group of equipment, structures, obstacles, pressure safety valves, pipeways, and placeable inline components can be translated and rotated using the group functionality. Also, equipment and obstacles can be copied or deleted.

Once a group of members is selected, that group can be named and stored for future use. With this operation, you can capture a module of equipment and structural components that will always be placed together. Even before the layout of a module or working area is finalized, named groups allow you to define collections of PlantWise objects and have access to that group over the life of the model rather than just during the current PlantWise operation.

Named groups do not need to be recreated simply because the composition of the model or group has changed; components can be added to or deleted from groups, and items deleted from the model are automatically removed from any groups that contained that component.

Independent Structural Members (ISMs) can be added to a named group, and work with them in the current model session; however, if that member is NOT associated with a structure or pipeway it will not be saved with the group for future use.
