Importing Data

All PlantWise model data is stored in one of several files. Data such as the equipment list, line list, and inline component list is stored in the process data files. Size and location information for equipment, nozzles, pipeways, and so forth is stored in the plot script file. The content and format of these files are detailed in Appendix D - File Formats .

You can import process and/or script data in multiple ways:
  • Seed the model on generation with the desired data. You can also load externally generated process and script files with this method.
  • Import obstacles opens a file selection dialog that allows you to select which file or files in the current design session should be read in order to generate PlantWise obstacles.
  • Load data from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with the Import Excel Workbook command (Model > Import > Excel Workbook).
  • EC Data
    • EC Data is imported into PlantWise from a File System Repository (FSR). An FSR is a collection of XML files describing the hierarchy of objects (classes) and the properties of those objects.
      • All Data: From FSR Imports equipment and piping into PlantWise.
      • Update Pipe Sizes: From FSR Imports only the piping data into PlantWise. This allows for updates to the pipe sizes to be incorporated into the PlantWise model without changing the equipment data.
