Data Aggregation

The purpose of PlantSight Data Aggregation service is to link objects from 1D, 2D, and 3D data in PlantSight and create a single instance that contains the correct engineering content for a particular tag. For example, three instances of a pump could be imported via three different sources and linked to a single digital twin instance that shows the correct property set for that component. This single source is referred to as the Digital Twin. With Data Aggregation, you can examine, select, and modify tags and attributes for inconsistencies before they are merged into a digital twin, and then viewed and cross-probed using the Data Visualizer.

When importing information from various data sources into PlantSight, there may be data that matches exactly and can be aggregated without performing any alterations to the data. There will most likely also be data with inconsistencies with tags and attributes. In addition, even though different data sources may contain consistent data, objects could inadvertently be imported multiple times. PlantSight's Data Aggregation feature assists with ensuring that the merged information has a high level of accuracy.

Tip: It is recommended to aggregate your highest quality dataset (the dataset with the most number of correct tag names) first, as this will create a baseline dataset for the digital twin and reduce the amount of effort to merge subsequent acquisitions into the existing digital twin.
In PlantSight, a typical data aggregation workflow is as follows:
  1. Select the data acquisition(s) to be aggregated. See Selecting Data Acquisitions for Aggregation.
  2. Publish any acquired data that has direct matching tags. See Aggregating Data with Matching Tags.
  3. Publish remaining acquired data using the Fuzzy Match feature. See Aggregating Data Using Fuzzy Match.

Note that all changes made in the Data Aggregation grid are cached locally until the final Publish command is invoked, therefore you can continue to modify the settings until the content is considered correct.
