The STM has a number of display modes. Each of these can be toggled on or off from the STM Manager or the Element Information dialog. The symbology can be set using the Element Information. Select the STM in the STM Manager box or by using the Element Selector. Choose the Element Information tool.

Expand the Scalable Terrain Model node to show Calculated Features Display and then select the appropriate option.
