Select Building dialog
Used to create or select OpenBuildings Designer Building definitions in which to merge imported or exported floors information.
Opens when importing or exporting a Structural model to or from a project containing multiple building definitions. The dialog appears during both the import and export processes initiated by the ISM exchange tools. Building definitions and floors are managed with the Floor Manager and Floor Selector utilities. Here, floors are defined as being of the Structural discipline which is a requirement for interoperability with ISM.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Buildings | Used to browse and select from existing building definitions to which you can merge the imported floors information. When importing, the imported Structural model file name is included with the existing building names. You can also enter a new building name by typing it in the text field. When exporting, only the existing building definitions appear on the list. |
Use Model Name | When on, a building definition is created, using the imported Structural model’s file name. Activating this option disables the Buildings option. |
OK | Completes the building selection process, allowing the import
process to continue.
Tip: If
an existing building is selected, and it has floor definitions with the same
names as the floors being imported, the imported floors are reported as having
no changes in the
Update
Design Results
dialog. If an existing building is selected, and the
floors are named differently from those in being imported, the imported floors
are reported as being externally deleted
("Deleted.Ext.") in the Update Design Results dialog. External
deletions are only permitted for floor definitions which have the floor
property
Discipline set to Structural.
