Drawing Boundary

Traditionally, sheet creation and layout has been a very manual and time consuming process. To overcome this, the drawing boundary feature is provided. A drawing boundary is a predefined area on a sheet model which may contain a drawing. A sheet may be subdivided into several drawing boundaries. A drawing boundary allows you to quickly and easily define the location of a drawing on a sheet.

General Characteristics of a Drawing Boundary

  • A drawing boundary is an area on a sheet that has a specific shape.
  • A drawing boundary may be defined by any closed shape.
  • Drawing boundaries are defined in the sheet seed model in the .dgnlib using the Place Drawing Boundary tool and used while automating dynamic views.
  • You can have any number of drawing boundaries on a sheet model.
  • Drawing boundaries can have a defined overlap.
  • Drawing boundaries are not on a level, nor do they plot.
Tip: The DRAWINGBOUNDARY HILITEALL ON key-in highlights all the drawing boundaries in the active sheet model. This key-in is especially useful when the Boundary Display setting in the Detailing Symbol Styles dialog is set to Hidden.
