Stair Properties, Treads panel

The Stair Properties dialog, Treads panel, is used to set or modify the treads related property settings for a stair assembly.

SettingDescription
Tread Depth

Sets the depth of a tread in working unit. This is a horizontal nose-to-nose between two adjacent treads. Changes to tread depth will also reflect in the placement tab.

Tread Depth

Tread Thickness

Sets the thickness to the Slab type treads. Tread thickness is disabled for other tread types.

Treads Thickness

Tread Profile

Enabled when Tread Type had set to Parametric Profile. Sets the tread profile (.PAZ) selected from the pull down menu.

  • Metal_Pan_Tread.paz – Sets the default tread profile.
Note: The configuration variable BB_STAIRTREADPROFILE defines the directory path for the Parametric profile definitions stored as PAZ files.
Tread Type

Sets the type of tread to use in the stair construction.

  • Plane – Sets the tread to plane type, usually to monolithic stair.
  • Slab – Sets the tread type to slab having rectangular and volumetric dimensional quality. Slab type allows defining tread thickness.
  • Parametric – Enables the Tread Profile property allowing setting one of the PAZ cell files for tread profile. Parametric profile defines the cross section of the tread, normally used for pan and sanitary pan steel stairs.
Tread Nosing Distance

Sets the distance from the leading edge of a tread to the point of intersection between the tread below the base of riser. This is the overlap distance of one tread to another.

Treads Nosing Distance

Remains disabled for Parametric Profile Tread type.

Tread Nosing Profile

Sets the nose profile for projected treads having non-zero nosing distance defined.

  • None – Sets the tread to default profile as plain.
  • Chamfer – Sets the tread profile to chamfer finishing at the edge of the tread slab.
  • Fillet – Sets the tread profile to fillet, adding a smooth finishing at the edge of the tread slab.

Remains disabled for Parametric Profile Tread type.

Tread Nosing Radius/Chamfer

Sets the radius or a symmetrical chamfer distance used in the nosing profile.

Tread Part Definition

Sets the tread family and part definition pair through the popped up pull down menus.

Treads family & parts - example, Part assigns matl_Stair_Tread

Family and part assignment could be done for slab as well as for plane and parametric profile treads. The value set through Part option overrides the native definitions of family part, if any in the profile.
