Assign & Analyze Connection dialog

Used to map flow types with available end connections in the route being selected for duct sizing. The number of connections available is based on the number of ends the air handling source in the route is configured with. The mapped preferences are retained when a system is loaded for analysis.

Opens when the Load System button in the Duct Sizing System Summary dialog is pressed and the first component, usually the source of the system in the HVAC route is selected in the view. The upper part of dialog settings deals with assigning flow types to the connection ends available in the selected source, whereas the lower interface is used to pick an end connection to load the system for analysing duct sizing.
SettingDescription
Assign Connection Types Used to map one or more connections to a flow type each.
  • Available Connections — Displays the list of Ends available to the source in the route. For example, a Fan as a source component would have End1 and End2, whereas multi-port components such as an AHU as a source will have additional –End3, End4 etc., ends as available connections. You can map one or more connections to a flow, however only one end is taken to process loading system.
  • Type — Each type pull-down list displays the flow types available. Choose a flow type to map it to the corresponding connection end.

Typical flow types provided are: the Supply, Exhaust, Return, and Fresh Air.

Connection to Analyze The end connections that are mapped for respective flow types are listed here. The mapped ends display the flow they are mapped with in the parenthesis. Selecting a mapped end activates OK button, in the initial loading. The last mapped settings are preserved and will be available in successive loadings. Only the connection that is physically routed in the duct route is valid and proceeds with loading system, and for invalid connections, closes the dialog.

Cancel escapes the dialog.

Note: An abbreviated letter corresponding to the flow types (s, e, r or f) being mapped during the load, is suffixed with the Duct Section numbers listed in Duct Sizing Section Summary table and in Fitting Loss Coefficient Summary table.
