STAAD.Pro Physical Modeler Help

Check Model Integrity dialog

This dialog is used to perform a range of checks for duplicate objects, overlapping objects, orphan nodes, warped surfaces, and zero length members.

Opens when the Model Integrity Check tool is selected on the Model ribbon tab in the Edit group.

SettingDescription
Select All Check this option to check all the following integrity check options. Cleaning this will alternatively clear all selections. When a mix of selections is made, then this check box displays a partial fill.
Nodes
SettingDescription
Orphan Check this option to check for nodes which are not connected to any other model entity (i.e., "orphan nodes").
Duplicate Any nodes closer together than the tolerance value will be replaced with a single node. This node is then reconnected with model objects previously connected to the duplicate nodes.
Note: The tolerance is set using the Merge nodes tolerance value on the Options dialog Analysis model tab.
Members
SettingDescription
Zero length Check this option to check for members which connect effectively duplicate nodes. A member whose length falls below the tolerance value will be considered zero length.
Note: The tolerance is set using the Merge nodes tolerance value on the Options dialog Analysis model tab.
Duplicate Check this option to check for members where respective end nodes are within the tolerance value.
Note: The tolerance is set using the Merge nodes tolerance value on the Options dialog Analysis model tab.
Overlap Check this option to check for overlapping, collinear members.
Surfaces
SettingDescription
Warped Check this option to check for warped surfaces. Warping is defined as the local z distance of any node (i.e., perpendicular to the plane of the surface) that is greater than the tolerance value.
Note: The tolerance is set using the Out of plane tolerance value on the Options dialog Analysis model tab.
Duplicate Check this option to check for surfaces where respective vertex nodes are within the tolerance value.
Note: The tolerance is set using the Merge nodes tolerance value on the Options dialog Analysis model tab.
Overlap Check this option to check for overlapping surfaces in the same plane.
Invalid geometry Check this option to check for invalid surface geometry. If a model has been imported with invalid geometry or if a surface has been manually edited incorrectly (e.g., a surface with incorrect node order), this will check for any such surfaces.
Note: STAAD.Pro Physical Modeler does not allow for invalid geometry to be created using the graphical tools.
Openings
SettingDescription
Duplicate Check this option to check for duplicate openings. For polygonal openings, this is where respective vertex nodes are within the tolerance value. For circular openings, this is where center point and radius are within the tolerance value.
Overlap Check this option to check for overlapping openings (either polygonal or circular) in the same plane.
Invalid geometry Check this option to check for invalid opening geometry. If a model has been imported with invalid geometry or if a opening has been manually edited incorrectly, this will check for any such openings. Invalid geometry may include:
  • polygonal openings with incorrect node order
  • circular openings with zero radius
  • openings without a surface reference
  • openings that lie outside the reference surface
  • openings that are not in a surface plane
  • circular openings with less than six facets
  • circular openings that intersect surface limits/edges, region edges, or reference lines
Regions
SettingDescription
Duplicate Check this option to check for regions where respective vertex nodes are within the tolerance value.
Invalid geometry Check this option to check for invalid region geometry. If a model has been imported with invalid geometry or edited incorrectly, this will check for any such regions. Invalid geometry may include:
  • invalid surface region node connectivity
  • regions without a surface reference
  • warped surface regions
  • regions that lie outside the reference surface
Button Description
Delete Deletes objects that match the selected checks. For duplicates, the numerically lowest object is retained.
Close Cancels the current operation.
Validate Selects the matching objects based on the selected checks.
