To enforce a displacement on a node

To enforce a displacement or rotation in selected nodes, use the following procedure.

A fully "fixed" support will be specified as an ENFORCED support in the analytical model when a support displacement load is applied.

A "custom" support will be specified as an ENFORCED BUT support in the analytical model when a support displacement load is applied. Any spring stiffness assigned to a support with an enforced displacement will be ignored (and a warning will be issued when the analytical model is generated). A support displacement should only be applied to a fixed direction for custom supports.

  1. Select the nodes where the same displacement and rotation are to be applied.
  2. On the Nodal ribbon tab, select the Enforced Displacements tool in the Loads group.

The Add Nodal Enforced Displacements dialog opens.
  3. Select the Load group or case to which the load will be added from the drop-down list.
  4. Type the displacements and rotations to enforce at the selected nodes.
  5. Click OK. The dialog closes and the enforced displacements are displayed on the model.

You can edit enforced displacement values for the current load group or load case by selecting the Enforced dispalcements tool in the Node group on the Spreadsheet ribbon tab.
