To add a construction grid

To add a grid and display in all view windows, use the following procedure.

  1. On the Model toolbar, select the Grid tool in the Create group.

    The Create Grid dialog opens.
  2. Select a Coordinate system to place the grid origin.
  3. Select a coordinate system Plane. The remaining dialog controls update to reflect the axes parallel to the selected plane.
  4. Select the Creation method from the drop-down list and type the grid line dimensions for both axes.

For specifying spacing, use the format number@distance. You can separate different spacings by a comma.

Note: Units can be typed by their abbreviations. Different units of length can be used. Otherwise, the default unit of length is assumed.
For example, 3@100 cm, 2@5 ft can be typed for three spaces at 100 centimeters, followed by two spaces at five feet. For specifying length, type the Count (number) of equal spaces and the overall Distance (length) of the grid along that axis.
  5. Click OK. A new grid is added to the Grids spreadsheet.

You can view and modify grids by selecting the Grids tool in the Reference group on the Spreadsheet ribbon tab. Individual grid lines can be edited by selecting either the Grid Abscissa or Grid Ordinate tool in the Reference group on the Spreadsheet ribbon tab.

Tip: You can control the visibility of each grid from this worksheet by checking the Visible column check box for each grid.
