M. To add an enclosed zone load
To add an enclosed zone load to a primary load case, use the following procedure.
-
Either:
On the Loading ribbon tab, select the Load Items tool in the Loading Specifications group
Tip: This will add the load item to the currently selected load group selected in the program status bar.or
In the Load & Definition dialog, select a primary load case in the Load Cases Details list and then click Add.
- Select the tab.
- Select the Zone Name from the drop-down list.
- Type the Intensity value. This is the magnitude of the load applied
-
Specify the Direction of load application:
Local Z - apply the load perpendicular to the enclosed zone
The load is applied using the "right-hand rule": if a enclosed zone boundary is defined by nodes in a counter-clockwise order, then a positive value loads in the positive local Z direction. Conversely, if a enclosed zone boundary is defined by nodes in a clockwise order, then a positive value loads in the negative local Z direction.
or
GX / GY / GZ - apply the load parallel to one of the global model axes
This option represents a projected load along a global axes. This can be particular useful in applying wind or snow loads.
- Click Add.
- Repeat steps 2 through 4 to add additional enclosed zone loads to the current primary load case.
