RAM Structural System Help

DXF File Generation dialog

Used to generate a drawing containing structural floor plans and concrete beam schedules for use in a CAD system.

Opens when either:
  • Post-Processing > DXF File > Floor Framing is selected
  • the Framing DXF tool is selected

Upon selecting the PostProcessing - DXF File - Floor Framing command, the DXF File Generation dialog box will appear.

Note: The defaults for the DXF File Generation are set up upon installing RAM Structural System and may be modified by following the directions provided in the Installation Manual.

Floor Plan tab

SettingDescription
Drawing Scale

Allows you to indicate the scale of the DXF file.

Color/Layer Options Opens the DXF File Layer/Color Options dialog, which is used to select the color for each layer in the drawing.
Beam Label Options Opens the DXF File Beam Label Options dialog, which is used to control parameters for how steel and concrete beams are labeled in framing plans.
Text Options Opens the DXF File Text Options dialog, which is used to specify the font and the size of text of the labels on the DXF file.
Misc Options Opens the DXF File Miscellaneous dialog, which is used to control various parameters of the framing drawing.

Concrete Beam Drawing tab

SettingDescription
Drawing Style
Mark In all case the beams are marked sequentially starting with the bottom level.
  • Group For Identical Beam Lines - This option groups identical beams with the same mark using the following rules:
    • In a given beam line, beams will get the same mark when they have identical section properties and reinforcement.
    • Beams in different beam lines will receive the same beam marks if all the beams in one beam line are identical to the other. In other words, beams in different beam lines will only get the same marks if all the beams in the two beam lines are identical.
    • Beam lines are grouped per story. If two identical beam lines are on different stories, they will be assigned different marks.
  • Unique for Each Beam Lines - This option groups gives each beam in the building a unique schedule mark.
Mark Prefix

Each category of beams is given a user defined prefix to simplify to organization of the concrete beam schedules.

SettingDescription
Include Story Number in Prefix

When this option is selected the prefix will also include the story number to simplify the cross-referencing of the beam mark between the schedule and the floor plan.

Color/Layer Options Opens the DXF File Layer/Color Options dialog, which is used to select the color for each layer in the drawing.
Text Options Opens the DXF File Text Options dialog, which is used to specify the font and the size of text of the labels on the DXF file.
