RAM Structural System Help

Add a Story

  1. Enter the Level Number into the Level Number edit box. The default value is one level above the highest currently defined level in the model. If generating a range of Stories, enter bottom and top level numbers for the range.
  2. Select the Floor Type defining the geometry of this level by clicking the desired type in the Floor Type list box. A Floor Type can be used more than once in consecutive levels.
  3. Enter the floor-to-floor height from this level to the level below it. This will establish the column lengths for the RAM Steel Column module and RAM Frame.
  4. Either:

To specify a particular label, select the Use option and enter the Story Label into the Story Label edit box.

This Label will distinguish this story on the output reports.

    or

To generate a story label, select the Generate option and specify a Prefix (e.g., Level) or a Suffix (e.g., Floor) if desired, select the Enumerator Style, and select the Enumerator corresponding to the story to be added.

When generating the Story Label, the Preview field will show what the generated label will look like.
  5. Select the Splice Level option. This is used only by the RAM Steel Column module to indicate if the gravity columns are to be spliced at this level, allowing a change in size between the columns above and below this level. Select the Alternate option to have the splice flag alternate between levels (i.e., to have column pieces span two stories between splices).
  6. Click the Add button. This will add the story to the Story Level list box.
Clicking the OK button will save any modifications made. Clicking the Cancel button will cancel any modifications made.
