RAM Structural System Help

iTwin Services

RAM Structural System can send structural data to and from an iTwin repository through a set of iTwin Services tools. These tools allow both creation and updating of RAM Structural System models as well as iTwin repositories. Further, these flexible tools allow you to begin models and move data as your workflow dictates.

The iTwin tools are accessed using the Bentley Cloud Services > iTwin Services command or the iTwin Analytical Synchronizer and iTwin Services icon from the toolbar. When invoked, the side panel displays the Synchronize to File commands, Push to file and Pull from file.

  • Push to file is used to create a new iTwin or to update an existing iTwin.
  • Pull from file is used to create a new RAM Structural System model from an iTwin or to update an existing RAM Structural System model from an iTwin.

A file with an extension of .ism.dgn is listed beneath the Synchronize to File heading. It may either be the iTwin file associated with the current RAM Structural System model or the default file name that will be used upon creation of an iTwin from the RAM Structural System model. Selecting that file allows you to create a new file to be associated with the RAM Structural System model or to select a different iTwin repository that is associated with the RAM Structural System model.

Show History will show the history of the changes to the iTwin.

Edit Settings allows you to specify several settings. Several of these aren’t generally necessary, but in some cases can be adjusted to refine the transfer of model information.

SettingDescription
Model Offset Settings

This provides a means of specifying the offset between the RAM Structural System coordinate system and the real-world coordinates of the project. It is common for BIM models to be based on a coordinate system that is based on the site coordinates. In the RAM Structural System, it is generally easier to work in the Modeler if the model isn’t rotated in plan and if the coordinate system origin is located at or reasonably near to (0.0, 0.0). The Model Offset Settings provides a seamless way of transforming the coordinates between the RAM Structural System model and the BIM model.

iTwin Analytical Synchronizer Settings These settings provide various options to specify what and how certain data is exported to the iTwin. The defaults for these settings can be set in the File – iTwin Analytical Synchronizer Defaults command.

To exit from the History panel or the Settings panel, select the < icon at the top of the panel.
