Update a RAM Structural System Model from an iTwin Repository

To update an existing RAM Structural System model from an existing iTwin repository, use the following procedure.

  1. In the RAM Structural System select File > Open to select the model to be updated.
  2. Select Bentley Cloud Services > iTwin Services to display the iTwin commands on the side panel.
  3. Verify that the iTwin file listed under the Synchronize to File heading is the iTwin file from which the model is to be to be updated or click on that file and in the Setup Local Sync dialog select Select and navigate to the desired iTwin file and then select Confirm.
  4. Select Pull from file.
  5. In the Pull from file dialog the description of the latest version of the iTwin repository will be displayed. If you want the iTwin Analytical Synchronizer to appear before the RAM Structural System model is updated, toggle on Show change management.
  6. Select Pull.
  7. The Update From Repository progress dialog will appear, and then the Mappings dialog will open. If the model has Composite or Noncomposite decking, the decking will be listed on the Slabs/Decks tab. If the association was done previously it is not necessary to repeat these steps. Otherwise, if in the RSS Deck Type column there are any decks that indicate "<Not Mapped>", those decks should be associated with a deck recognized by the RAM Structural System. To properly associate the Composite decking between that found in the iTwin and that desired for use in the RAM Structural System model, do the following:
    1. Select a Composite deck from the list and select Edit.
    2. Unselect the No Mapping option.
    3. Select the RSS deck type that is to be used in the RAM Structural System model to represent the deck listed for the iTwin.
    4. Repeat for each Composite deck in the list.
For Noncomposite decking do the following:
    1. Select a Noncomposite deck from the list and select Edit.
    2. Unselect the No Mapping option.
    3. Enter a Deck Type Label that will be used for that deck in the RAM Structural System.
    4. Repeat for each Noncomposite deck in the list.
The Operation Settings tab has several settings that allow for adjustments pertaining to tolerances, nodes, elements, etc. It isn’t generally necessary to make changes to these settings, but in some cases can be adjusted to refine the transfer of model information. Make changes, as desired.
  8. Select OK or Cancel to dismiss the Mappings dialog.
  9. If the Show change management option was toggled on, the iTwin Analytical Synchronizer will be launched, and the iTwin displayed showing the differences between the iTwin and the RAM Structural System model. Changed entities can be Accepted or Rejected (that is, included or excluded from the RAM Structural System model update) as desired. See the iTwin Analytical Synchronizer Help for information on using that application. Select Update to update the RAM Structural System model from the iTwin.
  10. Select Show Details to view a list of any errors that occurred during the creation of the iTwin.
  11. Select Close to close the Update From Repository dialog.
  12. On the iTwin Services panel, select the X icon next to Pull from file to close the command and return to the standard iTwin Services panel view.
  13. Before exiting the RAM Structural System, save the model so that the model changes will be preserved.
The updated RAM Structural System model will now be available for review, modification, and design. It is recommended to invoke the Integrity > DataCheck command in the Modeler to identify problems with the model, if any.
