Steel Seismic Provision Mode

In steel seismic provisions mode the members and joints of the structure are checked to determine if they meet the design and detailing requirements of the selected seismic code. The Following Seismic Codes are available. The codes available will are based on the steel design code selected in the Standard Provision Mode. That is, strength seismic provision codes will only be available if a strength design code is selected in the Standard Provision Steel Mode.

The requirements of the latest Federal Emergency Management Agency Guidelines (FEMA 350) have been implemented for UBC 1997 LRFD and AISC 1997. FEMA 350 Recommended Seismic Criteria for New Steel Moment-Frame Buildings, (July 2000), including June 18, 2001 errata. When selected by the user the provisions from this code can be checked in lieu of the equivalent UBC 97 or AISC 1997 provisions.

The engineer can select a code by selecting the appropriate radio button in the Building Code box of the dialog. - - The options available on the options box depend on the building code selected. The options available are listed below: - Apply one and two story exception - Use frame No. to designate a single line of bracing - Perform FEMA 350 - Zone - Strain Hardening and Overstrength - Use AISC 358-05 RBS Moment Connection
