Analysis Results Diagrams

The Analysis Results Diagrams Dialog is used to display analysis results for a member in a graphical form. This dialog is used in a number of applications and may behave slightly differently in each one based on the information that is being displayed.

In some applications the dialog box may be set up so a new member can be selected without having to close the dialog or reselect the dialog option from the menu or toolbar.

SettingDescription
Member Information At the top of the dialog the Story Label, Member Label, Section Label, Full Length and Slop of the member are displayed. This information is used to locate the member and identify its basic information.
Member Start and End Supports The member star and end support information is used to also locate the member in the structure. Depending on the dialog's use the supports could be referenced in a number of ways including node numbers, member numbers and grid coordinates.
Analysis Type Selection The List box in the top right side of the dialog is used to select the analysis type to display. This could be the load case or load combination depending on the current mode.
Diagram Type Selection On the left side of the dialog there is a list box next to each diagram. The list box is used to select the diagram type. This could be the Shear, Moment, or Deflection diagrams for the member. The available diagrams are dependent on the current mode. The diagrams will automatically update when the Analysis Type is changed.
Diagram Maximum and Minimum Values Under the diagram type selection list box the value and location for the maximum and minimum values along the adjacent diagram are reported. These are the values along the full length of the diagram. The values are automatically updated if the Analysis or Diagram types are changed.
Current Value at Slider Location Under the Maximum and Minimum Values for the diagram the value of the diagram at the current slider location is displayed. This value will automatically change if the current slider location, Analysis or Diagram type are changed.
Diagrams Under the Analysis Type list box are located the analysis results diagrams. These diagrams are automatically updates when the Analysis or Diagram types are changed.

The Green triangles on the diagrams indicate the supports for the member.

The diagrams are automatically scaled, so for example the Major and Minor Shear diagrams will have the same scale so the user can easily see and compare the relative values.

On each diagram there is a slider that can be dragged across the diagram to see the value of the diagram at any location. The slider can also be moved across the diagram by moving the slide bar at the bottom of the dialog or by entering a relative or absolute value in the Distance text box.

Distance Slide Bar Near the bottom of the dialog there is a slide bar which can be used to move the slider across the diagram to see the value at any location. The values will be reported to the left of each diagram.
Distance Locater Distance locator can be used to accurately locate the value of the diagram at a given distance from the left end.

When the Absolute option is selected any value from zero to the total length of the member can be entered in the units displayed to the right of the text box.

When the Relative option is selected any value from zero to the 100 % can be entered. This option is useful when the user is interested in ¼, 1/3 or ½ way points which can be entered as 24, 33.3 and 50 respectively.

Save Settings The save settings option will save the last Analysis and Diagram Types selected so the next time the dialog is selected the same settings as the previous session are available.
Close Button Selecting the close button will close the dialog box. Depending on the application, it may be possible to select another member without having to reselect the dialog box from the menu or toolbar.
