Spread Footing - Results Tab

The Results tab is used to interactively change the footing's design and see the effect of those changes. When this tab is selected it will be populated with the current design values of the footing dimensions and reinforcement. By changing the values and pressing the Redesign button the user can try alternative designs.

SettingDescription
Dimensions The Dimensions work similarly to that of the Assign Geometry dialog box. If the Optimize check box is selected the footing is optimized in that direction using the minimum value defined in the Optimization Criteria dialog box up to the maximum value defined in the Assign Geometry dialog box. If the Optimize option is not selected, an edit box becomes available for entry of the fixed footing dimension in that direction.
Reinforcement This area is used for studying the effects of modifying the reinforcement on the final design. Select the desired radio button for displaying the Bottom Reinforcement(footing under compression) or the Top Reinforcement(footing under tension). If Top Steel is not required in the design, this radio button will be grayed out. Select the Optimize Reinforcement check box to have the program automatically select the reinforcement. To explicitly define the reinforcement, deselect the Optimize Reinforcement option, then select the Bar Size from the drop down list and enter the quantity of bars to use. Below you will see the required reinforcement area for the last run analysis and the provided reinforcement for the values in Bar Size and Quantity.

Changes to any property on this tab will invalidate the current design. The View Results and Update Database buttons will gray and will not be available again until a ReDesign in done.

If the Update Database command is issued, the dimensional and reinforcement data from this tab will be saved along with the design of this footing.
