Creating Documents and Folders

If you have the appropriate permissions, you can create documents and folders in ProjectWise Web.

You can create documents and folders by dragging in files and folders from the file system, or by selecting New > Upload File(s) or New > New Folder.

Note: You cannot create placeholder documents (documents with no file attached) from ProjectWise Web. Placeholder documents can only be created in ProjectWise Explorer.
Note: Generally speaking, ProjectWise essentially has no file size limit (ProjectWise supports files up to 18,000,000 TB, although the file size allowed by the file server where ProjectWise documents are stored may be lower than that). However, the size of file that can be uploaded in ProjectWise Web is limited to 30 MB by default, and this limit can be increased or decreased as needed by the administrator of ProjectWise Web.

Dragging In Files and Folders

You can drag one or more files or folders from your file system into the current folder in ProjectWise Web. A ProjectWise folder is created for each folder that you drag in, and a ProjectWise document is created for each file that you drag in.

Creating Documents Using the New > Upload Files Menu

  1. Go to the folder that you want to upload files to.
  2. Click New > Upload files.
  3. In the local file selection dialog that opens, select the file or files to upload.

A new document is created in the current folder for each file that is uploaded.

Creating Folders Using the New > New Folder Menu

  1. Go to the folder where you want to create the new folder.
  2. Click New > New folder.
  3. In the Create Folder dialog, enter a name and optional description for the folder and click Save.
