Using Standard ArcMap Commands

When ArcMap users are logged into a ProjectWise datasource, they still have access to standard ArcMap commands, such as the File Open, the Add Data, and the New File command. Whether the active ArcMap document is from ProjectWise or not, all ArcMap commands will work normally and using them will not affect the way the ProjectWise commands behave.

It is also possible to create hybrid files. For example, an ArcMap document stored in ProjectWise can have some of its layers stored in ProjectWise and other layers stored locally on disk. However, users who create such hybrid files should consider the possibility that other ProjectWise users who open the hybrid files from another ProjectWise client node may have problems loading the local file storage based layers from their client node.

Thus, although it is possible for users to create hybrid ArcMap documents without altering the behavior of the ProjectWise extension to ArcMap, they should be aware that the content of such files may not always be accurate or complete from one ProjectWise client to another.
