ProjectWise Geospatial Explorer Help

iDesktop for ArcMap

This section discusses how to use the ProjectWise functionality available in ArcMap when it is integrated with ProjectWise. This section also includes a description of the ProjectWise toolbar supplied in ArcMap once it is integrated with ProjectWise.

The integration of both applications essentially allows users to:

  • Open an ArcMap document directly from ProjectWise Explorer and automatically log into this datasource with the document file fully loaded. This feature requires some basic configuration in ProjectWise Explorer.
  • Once in ArcMap, open other ArcMap documents from a ProjectWise datasource.
  • Add layers from ProjectWise (rasters, shapefiles, Personal Geodatabases, and CAD files) in the active ArcMap document.
  • Create new ArcMap documents and automatically add them in the active ProjectWise datasource.
  • Refresh the server copy of the currently opened ArcMap document.
  • Export ArcMap documents from ProjectWise to any location on disk and still have all layer datasources resolved correctly.
  • Lock, update or check-in to the active datasource the shapefiles and PGDB stored in ProjectWise that may be edited during or after an edit session in ArcMap.
