ProjectWise Administrator Help

Before You Install and Deploy the ProjectWise Plug-in for Bentley Web Services Gateway

  1. Make sure the latest Windows updates have been installed.
  2. Be an administrator of the computer.
  3. Install or configure the prerequisites for Bentley Web Services Gateway:
    1. In Server Manager, make sure the Web Server (IIS) role is installed along with the following role services:
      • Web Server
        • Performance
          • Dynamic Content Compression
        • Security
          • Windows Authentication
        • Application Development
          • ASP.NET 4.6 or later
          • .NET Extensibility 4.6 or later
          • ISAPI Extensions
          • ISAPI Filters
    2. Make sure .NET Framework 4.6.1 or later is installed.
    3. In Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, configure the following Authentication settings for the website you plan to deploy Bentley Web Services Gateway to:
      1. In the Connections pane, under your server > Sites, select your website.
      2. On the Home page (middle), under IIS, double-click the Authentication feature.
      3. Set Anonymous Authentication to Enabled.
    4. In Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, secure the website you plan to deploy Bentley Web Services Gateway to:
      1. In the Connections pane, under your server > Sites, right-click your website and select Edit Bindings.
      2. In the Site Bindings dialog, click Add.
      3. In the Add Site Bindings dialog, change Type to https, select an SSL certificate from the list, and click OK.
      4. Click Close to close the Add Site Binding dialog.
      5. Add port 443 (the default port for a secure website) to the Windows Firewall exception list on this computer.
Tip: Contact your IT department if you need help obtaining an official SSL certificate. To create a self-signed certificate, see the following Microsoft topic: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753127(v=ws.10).aspx
  4. Download and install Bentley Web Services Gateway 02.06.08.09.

    https://softwaredownloads.bentley.com/en/ProductDetails/2162

(This is the latest version of WSG, and is the same version that was delivered with ProjectWise CONNECT Edition Update 3.2.)

  5. Download and install the ProjectWise Plug-in for WSG CONNECT Edition Update 3.4 R3 (10.00.03.460).

    https://softwaredownloads.bentley.com/en/ProductDetails/2693

  6. Download and install ProjectWise Explorer CONNECT Edition Update 3.3 (10.00.03.336).

    https://softwaredownloads.bentley.com/en/ProductDetails/2546

Important: In previous releases, the plug-in required a matching version of ProjectWise Explorer. Please note that the Update 3.4 version of the plug-in requires the Update 3.3 version of ProjectWise Explorer and does not work with or support any other version of ProjectWise Explorer. Because the Update 3.4 version of the plug-in must be installed on a computer that has ProjectWise Explorer CONNECT Edition Update 3.3 installed, the Update 3.4 plug-in cannot be installed on any computer where any other version of ProjectWise is installed, or any computer where ProjectWise Design Integration Server is installed (because there is no Update 3.3 version of the ProjectWise server).
  7. Use the ProjectWise Network Configuration Settings dialog (delivered with ProjectWise Explorer) to configure the ProjectWise network in order to provide Bentley Web Services Gateway with a list of datasources that your administrators can select from when creating work area connections (ProjectWise Web) and datasource connections (ProjectWise Web View).
    1. Open the ProjectWise Network Configuration Settings dialog in administrator mode. (see Opening the ProjectWise Network Configuration Settings Dialog)
Important: If you open the dialog in the normal way (user mode), the network settings you configure (and therefore the datasources you want to expose to your users) will not be available to Bentley Web Services Gateway.
    2. On the General tab, turn on Prevent UDP for DNS and Listing (make sure there is a check mark in the check box).
    3. On the Datasource Listing tab:
      • In the Name field, enter a descriptive name for the ProjectWise server you are connecting to. For example, Main Production Server
      • In the Hostname field, enter the fully-qualified domain name (FQDN) of the computer on which the ProjectWise server you want to connect to is installed.
      • If the ProjectWise server's listener port is set to the default (5800), then you can leave the Port field empty. If the ProjectWise server's listener port is set to something other than 5800, then you must enter the server's listener port in the Port field.
      • Click Add.
      • At the bottom of the tab, turn on Prevent UDP (make sure there is a check mark in the check box).
    4. On the DNS Services tab, repeat the same steps you just performed on the Datasource Listing tab.
    5. Click Save, then Close.

You are done configuring the ProjectWise network on this computer. Open ProjectWise Explorer and verify that you can see and log into the datasources you expect to see, based on how you configured the ProjectWise network.
