Exporting and Importing Rendition Profiles and Rendition Profile Components

You can export rendition profiles and rendition profile components from one datasource and import them into another datasource. To do this, you can either use ProjectWise Administrator, or you can use the ProjectWise Datasource Export and Import Wizards (PWEXPT.EXE, PWIMPT.EXE).

You can choose to export or import:

  • All of the rendition profiles and rendition profile components
  • All of the rendition profiles and just the rendition profile components included in those rendition profiles
  • Just (all of) the rendition profile components
  • Just (all of) the rendition profile components of a particular category

Whichever method you use to export, the export process creates a script file with the extension .AAM in the export folder you specify during export. It contains records of all the rendition profiles and rendition profile components exported, as well as properties and attributes of the exported items. The script file is then used to recreate the rendition profiles and rendition profile components when you import the data into another datasource.

See the "Exporting Datasource Data" and "Importing Exported Datasource Data" sections in the ProjectWise Explorer help for details about using the ProjectWise Datasource Export and Import Wizards.

The rest of this section discusses how to export and import rendition profiles and components using ProjectWise Administrator.

Note: If you export a Source File Presentation Settings component along with its settings files and their ancillary files (design scripts, pen tables), you will need to manually fix the paths to the ancillary files in the settings files after import. This is because an ancillary file's path is recorded using the name of the working directory folder to which it was downloaded, which will likely be different in the new datasource. (The name of any working directory folder in ProjectWise is created using a combination of 'dms' plus the ID number of the ProjectWise folder from which a document was downloaded.)
