APL Format

The PlantWise APL module provides piping and component output in the Alphanumeric Piping Language used by the Intergraph PDS Model Builder. If so licensed, you open the APL Translation Setup dialog from the Reports menu (Reports > Export from the PlantWise menu and then APL Data for PDS from the Export dialog).

The APL Translation Setup dialog has two primary sections: translation specifications and pipeline selection.

APL Translation Setup dialog.

SettingDescription
Translation Specifications In the Translation Specifications pane, you can alter the export codes for reducers, and nozzle flanges. Export codes for inline components that are not User Defined Inlines, are set in the Export Codes section of the Project Setup dialog (ref: Export Code settings). Export codes for User Defined Inlines are set as a class attribute of the inline (creation of User Defined Inlines).
Pipe Classes You can map PlantWise pipe classes to the corresponding pipe classes in PDS. To do this, you must have a version of the apl-pipe-classes table. This is a two-column table with the key field being "class" and the dependent field being "apl-pipe-class". If there is no table or no matching class in the table, the PlantWise pipe class will be output.
Pipes to Export In the Pipes to Export pane of the APL Translation Setup dialog, you select what routed pipelines to export with the -->, <--, Export All, and Export None buttons. By default, pipelines with exceptions are not exported; however, those line can be exported by selecting the Exception Pipes check box.
