Editing a Pipeway

While all physical attributes of a pipeway can be changed, so can the names of each pipeway level.

Physical Edits

To query or change an existing pipeway:

  1. Pipeways and sections can be selected in two ways:

By opening the Pipeway Builder and selecting from the Pipeways and Sections selection drop down lists to the right in the Identification part of the Pipeway Builder dialog.

    or

By using the Edit tool icon on the Plant Toolbox and selecting one of the members of the desired pipeway section.

  2. Edit any of the entry data in the dialog.

From the Display menu you can Zoom, Highlight, or UnHighlight either the section or entire selected pipeway.

  3. Accept implements the changes in the process model and on the CAD screen.
  4. Close closes the dialog and discards any changes made after the last acceptance.

Moving a Pipeway

Pipeways can be located in several ways;

Enter new origin details in the Pipeway Builder.

or

Dynamically move the pipeway in CAD by selecting any pipeway member after activating the move command with the Move tool icon on the Plant Toolbox.

or

Include the pipeway in a Group to move, rotate, or mirror the pipeway (see Group Edits).

Cantilevers

PlantWise can build cantilevers off the sides of pipeway sections. It is important to note that the AutoRouter will NOT place pipes on pipeway cantilevers.

Select the Cantilever tab in the Pipeway Builder. In this tab you select which pipeway, section, and side the cantilevers will be built on.

Cantilevers as design

Cantilevers are placed by level name. Once the level is selected, PlantWise will fill in the elevation of the cantilevers. You then identify the side of the pipeway, beam shape, and length of the cantilever.

Note: It is possible to use multiple types and designations for different levels. However, the dialog will also show the designation of the last row for other rows that do not match the last row’s type.

Editing Level Names

By changing level names, you can have greater control over pipeline placement. All pipeway levels are named on a pipeway basis following these guidelines:

Pipeway Level Names

  • Default names are Process up to the top level which defaults to Utility.
  • Multiple levels can have the same name (as shown in figure); conversely, one level can have multiple names.
  • Secondary pipeways will inherit the level names of its primary pipeway.
  • Levels named “any” will accept any pipeline.
