Cable Editor

The Electrical Cable Editor is where you can modify data table based attribute values and routing properties.

The primary sections of the Electrical Cable Editor are:
  • identification,
  • properties,
  • menus, and
  • command buttons.

Identification

The identification section of the Electrical Cable Editorincludes the Tag field - where you can select any cable in the model, and – if defined – the cable’s connectivity information (Origin and Terminus).

Properties

The three parts of the properties region of the Electrical Cable Editor are: Cable Properties, Description, Routing Results, User Properties, and Routing Properties.

Cable Properties Default attribute values in this section are taken from the cable-specifications table based on the cable’s specification code. Along with the specification code, you can set:
  • Voltage,
  • Glands,
  • Outside Diameter,
  • cross sectional Area,
  • Weight,
  • Cost Factor,
  • Pipeway Level,
  • if the pipeway level is required (PW Level Required),
  • CAD Level, and
  • Spacing Index.
Description By default, the string entered in the Electrical Cable List for the cable’s description is written in this field. You can add or edit the cable’s description either in this field or in the Description field of the cable list.
Routing Results The Routing Results section of the Electrical Cable Editor lists the routed Length of the cable and the number of Exceptions on the cable’s route. If there are exceptions on the cable’s route, “Exceptions” and the number in the field will be written in . You can not change these values.
User Properties You can add cable attributes as part of the project setup. You can change default value of any added attributes in the User Properties section of the Electrical Cable Editorr. If you change any of these attribute values, the new values are written in .
Routing Properties
The Routing Properties are:
  • Priority – a lower priority number will route the cable before higher number
  • Category – Direct or Pipeway
  • Start PW – the first pipeway (from origin to terminus) the cable is routed on - if user defined
  • End PW – the last pipeway (from origin to terminus) the cable is routed on - if user defined
  • Frozen – No, Partially Frozen, or Frozen. Partially Frozen and Frozen are written in for emphasis.

Menus

The File menu allows you to:
  • save the model (Save Model),
  • save the model under another name (Save Model As), and
  • exit the dialog (Close).
The Edit menu gives you access to editors for multiple aspects of the pipeline.
  • Update Dialog with new routing results
  • Rename the cable
  • Open the Connectivity editor for the selected cable
  • Open the editor for the Origin of the cable
  • Open the editor for the Terminus of the cable
  • Open the Cable List
  • Open the Exception List for the selected cable
  • Delete the cable.
Edit menu commands can also be accessed with a right mouse click over any dark gray area of the dialog.
The Display menu gives you the ability to:
  • Turn on/off the vicinity routes (Toggle Vicinity Routes);
  • Turn on/off boxes, drawn on the interference drawing level, that surround cable interferences(Toggle Interferences);
  • Open the Mass Properties dialog for the cable;
  • Zoom To the cable;
  • Highlight the cable;
  • UnHighlight the cable.
From the Route menu, you can:
  • Unroute the cable (UnRoute this Cable);
  • Route the cable (Route this Cable);
  • Route the cable with the pipeways (Route This Cable (with PWs)); and
  • Open the Router Control dialog with just the current cable in the Route or Re-Route fields (see AutoRouter Control Dialog ).
From the Modify menu, you can:
  • Freeze the current path of the cable (Freeze this Cable);
  • Thaw the cable (Thaw this Cable);
  • Open the AutoRouter Segment/Point Manipulator for the selected cable (Manipulate);
  • Select the pipeways used for the route of the current cable (Pipeway Router Selection).

Command Buttons

The command buttons allow you to:
  • Accept any changes made in the Electrical Cable Editor, or
  • Close the dialog.
