Cable List

The Electrical Cable List dialog is generally opened from the PlantWise Main dialog (Process > Cable List), or via CAD (PlantWise > Process > Cable List), the cable list can also be accessed from the Edit menu of several other dialogs, such as the Cable Editor. At any time during the process, the Cable List dialog may be closed by clicking Close. Data that has not been accepted (or saved with an <Enter> key) is discarded.

The Cable List dialog is formatted much like a spreadsheet, in that you may:
  • tab or use the arrow buttons to move through fields,
  • enter data directly into any field,
  • add multiple entries before Accepting new data,
  • sort entries by column,
  • duplicate a row.

Electrical Cable List dialog.

Before any cables have added to the model, the Electrical Cable List opens empty. Cables are added by choosing Edit > Add Cable. A valid cable entry contains a unique Tag and valid Specification selected from the list provided. Cable Descriptions are optional.

The list of cable specifications comes from the cable-specification table. From this table, PlantWise determines cable attributes such as diameter, unit weight, and preferred pipeway level. Sample entries of the cable-specification table can be found in Appendix A - Default Data Tables.

Cables are added to the model once the Accept button has been clicked.

Cables with erroneous or duplicate names prompt you with errors like that shown in below image.

To change an entry in the Electric Cable List, you only need to enter or select the new specification code or the new description and then accept the updated entry.

Cable List Menus

The Electrical Cable List dialog contains three menus: File, Edit, and Display.

The File menu allows you to:
  • save the model (Save Model),
  • save the model under another name (Save Model As), and
  • exit the dialog (Close).

The Edit menu gives you access to editors for multiple aspects of the pipeline.
