New Import

Used to import data into PlantSight from several file formats.

Note: Settings vary slightly for each file type. The following sections detail these settings.

Type Displays the import type;
  • Excel

Status Displays status (ie, Draft, Completed, Running).
Note: Status is "Draft" when the "New Import" screen is viewed. Status varies on the same screen (with same settings) when import information is viewed for existing imports.
Information (Excel Import) Used to enter the following import information:
  • Source - Click Browse to navigate to the Excel file you want to import. The selected file name appears below the Browse button. To clear the field, click .
  • Name - enter a name for the import. You can specifically and uniquely name the import. Import naming conventions can be a useful tool in controlling and identifying imports.
    Note: The Excel file name is entered automatically by default.
  • Description - enter a more detailed definition for the import while keeping the name a more manageable size.
  • Excel Configuration - select a configuration that fits the content of your selected import file. The configurations help the system interpret your input format.
    Note: Excel Configurations are the pre-configured import templates created by the PlantSight administrator specifically for the management and mapping of the data into the Digital Twin.
Information (AutoCAD 2D, Proteus) Used to enter the following import information:
  • Source - Click Browse to navigate to the file location of the AutoCAD/Proteus file you want to import. The selected file name appears below the Browse button (click the X button to the right of the selected file's name if you want to remove the selection).
  • Name - enter a name for the import. You can specifically and uniquely name the import. Import naming conventions can be a useful tool in controlling and identifying imports.
    Note: The AutoCAD/Proteus file name is entered automatically by default.
  • Description - enter a more detailed definition for the import while keeping the name a more manageable size.
  • Target Location - defines the specific Facility, Area, Unit in the plant break down structure that the specific 2D file pertains to. Your PlantSight Administrator previously created this break down structure specifically for the management and mapping of the data into the Digital Twin. Selecting ... (browse) opens the Select Start Object dialog which is used to navigate the structure. Make a selection and click Select to accept the location.
Information (3D Import) Used to enter the following import information:
  • Name - enter a name for the import. You can specifically and uniquely name the import. Import naming conventions can be a useful tool in controlling and identifying imports.
  • Description - enter a more detailed definition for the import while keeping the name a more manageable size.
  • iModel - displays the iModel connected to the current project.
  • Controller - Controllers are filters that select which plant data to import. Administrators prepare Controllers for you in Open Plant Administrator. For further information, see the Open Plant Administrator help. Select a prepared Controller from the list.
  • Project - Projects are sub-filters for the selected Controller. Select a S3D/PDMx project.
  • Filter - Filters are sub-filters for the selected Project. Select a S3D/PDMx filter.
Information (OpenPlant Import) Used to enter the following import information:
  • Name - enter a name for the import. You can specifically and uniquely name the import. Import naming conventions can be a useful tool in controlling and identifying imports.
  • Description - enter a more detailed definition for the import while keeping the name a more manageable size.
  • Project - Projects are sub-filters for the selected Controller. Select a S3D/PDMx project.
  • iModel - displays the iModel connected to the current project.
Logs Displays detailed information about the imported data.
Save Saves a draft of the import without starting it.
Start Import Starts the import. Enabled when all required settings are completed.
Cancel Cancels the new import, and returns you to Data Acquisition.
Reimport If there is a reimport, the tab is activated. The tab shows a list of all reimports.
Result Shows the imported object structure.
