Attribute Introduction

Note: Attributes were formally known as Properties and there may be places within Operational Analytics where they are still referred to as Properties.

Attributes are a useful tool for apply information to containers and points. They can be used for by data collectors, for identifying containers and points, for adding extra details which could be used to link to external applications or hardware. The attributes can be text or numeric and there is no limit to the number of attributes that can be assigned to a single item.

Attribute Library

There is a library of attributes which for new systems will contain very little attributes and will grow over time.

To view the attribute library, select ‘Attribute Library’ from the Administration menu.

Attribute Groups

Attribute groups sole purpose is to group certain attributes together and make them searchable in the Data Tree Explorer Search tool. When attributes become searchable, they will appear in the Attribute Name drop-down list (below). This makes it easier to search by having a shorter list to look through.

Attribute Groups works by displaying the current groups and the attributes that are attached to them, as well as those attributes that are unassigned.
