Fiber Settings

The Fiber Settings icon displays a list of available settings used during the fiber design process that can be activated or deactivated.

Opening the Settings Options Dialog Box

  1. From the Modify/Delete section of the Fiber Tab select the Fiber Settings command:

  2. The Settings dialog displays:

  3. Activate or de-activate one of the settings by selecting it. When it is activated, a check mark displays next to the setting.
  • Link To Strand: Links fiber devices to the OpenComms Strand or Duct features while routing the network.
  • Auto Route: Route fiber by selecting a start and ending location.
  • Calculate Distances: Calculate sheath lengths and device locations by distance and coordinates in the DGN.
  • Conn Same Sheath: Allows fiber connection within same sheath.
  • Default Fiber Status: Set the default status for fibers.
  • Logical Fiber Numbers: Use logical numbers for fibers in X-Section Review, Manual Connections, Retain Order Splice Reports, etc.
  • Allow Edit of Customer Record: Allows customer records to be edited.
  • Show Only Primary O/S in Fiber Trace: Only display the O/S as defined in the master sheath in the Trace Report.
  • Write Traces To File: Allows trace to remain displayed on the map. If activated, the trace is written to the file and remains on Level 42 until it is deleted. The trace remains displayed on the map.
  • Fiber View Mode: View modes for XSection review dialog for fiber.
  • OS mode:

  • Detail Mode on same XSec review:

  • Copper View Mode: View modes for copper. (Not used currently.)
  • Port Name View Mode: View modes for port names.

The above OSP – Common settings contain setup utilities for features that may be common to Fiber, Copper, and Inside Plant. The following section will show how to setup features that pertain to Fiber only. To access these setup tabs, click File > OpenComms Settings > OSP – Fiber to display the following 10 setup tabs:
