Sketch Grids
Sketch Grids are grid systems you draw yourself using graphical elements including lines, multiple segment lines, arcs, curves, and b-splines. Sketch Grids allow you to create complex Grid Systems.
Not all grid systems can be classified or categorized as orthogonal or radial grid systems, and not all grids can be easily defined in a table. With Sketch Grids, you have the option to define grid lines graphically by placing basic geometry (lines, arcs, line strings, etc..) that inherit the qualities, behavior and business attributes of Grid Systems' grid elements. Sketch Grids allow you to expand beyond the traditional tabular grid definitions and create complex grid structures and graphically define your Grid Systems.
Sketch Grids Features
- Can create complex grid systems
- Transient working environment specifically designed for Sketch Grids
- Temporary model can reference any part of the project model including other grid systems, sheets and 3D components to assist drawing grid lines
- Can promote plain drawing elements such as lines, arcs, curves, shapes, b-splines, etc. to grid lines
- Supports 2 and 3 axis grid systems
- Provides special toolbox with tools designed specifically for Sketch Grids
- Can create multiple segment grid lines using lines and arcs
- Manipulation tools allow you to move, rotate, mirror and copy grid lines
- Automated labeling sequencing based on start value you enter
Sketch Grids Workflow
- Create new Sketch Grids from Grid Systems Manager ( )
- Activate a Sketch Grids session from Grid Systems Manager ( )
- Use the tools in the Add/Modify Grid Lines toolbar to define grid axes, labels and label locations.
- Use the tools in the Add/Modify Grid Lines toolbar to draw grid lines.
- Use the tools in the Add/Modify Grid Lines toolbar to Modify and Manipulate grid lines.
- Save or discard the grid lines you drew in the Sketch Grids session, and return to Grid Systems Manager and the 3D model.
