New from ISM Repository

Used to create a Structural model by importing Structural members from an ISM (Integrated Structural Model) repository. The imported repository file (*.ism.dgn) is scanned for Structural member definitions. Changes are reviewed with the Update Design Results dialog before being added into the OpenBuildings Designer session.

Tip: If you are importing joists in the ISM repository, ensure the following is completed prior to import:
  1. The ISM structural type listed as “None” has these DataGroup mappings – ISM Use : Beam, Type : Steel Beam, Instance : Bar Joist Envelope.
  2. The Joist Settings dialog has these DataGroup mappings – ISM Top Chord, Bottom Chord & Web Members > Type : Steel Beam, Instance : Bar Joist Members

New from ISM... Selecting the New from ISM Repository tool opens the ISM Import dialog. The ISM Import dialog is used to review information about ISM members that are to be imported.
Key-in: STRISMLINK IMPORT [ ism repository ]
Tip: Use the key-in argument ism repository to import a Structural model from an ISM repository with a single key-in, bypassing the ISM Import dialog. For instance, STRISMLINK IMPORT c:\ism\sample.ism.dgn.
