OpenBuildings™ Designer Help

Mapping Sections dialog

Used to create mapping information when importing ISM repositories or when importing CIS/2 files into OpenBuildings Designer. When you create a new DGN, you default to a particular set of section files (us.xml, uk.xml, and so forth). If the imported repository or file uses a different mapping scheme, this dialog lets you assign corresponding values from your section files to the incoming members.

SettingDescription
Mapping Settings After you have created your mapping choices, this option menu lets you select an existing settings file or save the current mapping file. Menu items are:
  • Mapping Settings > Attach (ISM Import) — Opens the SECTIONMAPPING_SETTING dialog where you can select an existing settings file (*.txt) for reuse when importing changes from the same ISM repository or for exporting changes back to it.
  • Mapping Settings > Attach (CIS/2 Import) — Opens the CIS2MAPPING_SETTING dialog. Select an existing mapping (*.cisi) file to use as your section map.
  • Mapping Settings > Save As (ISM Import) — Opens the SECTIONMAPPING_SETTING dialog where you can save your mapping choices to a mapping settings file (*.txt). Enter a file path and name for your new settings file here. When you chose this option, the settings file and location are automatically saved via the configuration variable SECTIONMAPPING_SETTING.
  • Mapping Settings > Save As (CIS/2 Import) — Opens the CIS2 Import Settings dialog. Enter a name for your new *.cisi mapping file. The mapping choices you have made are saved.
Section Name Displays the section name of the member as it was saved in the CIS/2 file. If there is not a corresponding Mapping Name for the CIS/2 section name already, then the same section name is also in the Mapping Name column, and the text color is red. If the text color is black right after importing the CIS/2 file, there is a section map already in force for this section name. When you update the Mapping Name column, the text color is blue.
Mapping Name Displays the mapping name that will be used in the structural model for this imported member. To change the mapping name, right-click on a value in the column and a pop-up menu will appear. If the text color is red, there is no corresponding mapping name. If the text color is black right after importing, there is a section map already in force for this section name. When you update the Mapping Name column, the text color is blue.
Right click options Right clicking on the selected section name in either of the columns pops up a menu with two mapping options.
  • Select Map Name — Opens the Structural Sections dialog listing the currently loaded section files. Choose the section to which you want this member mapped.
  • Rename — Allows you to rename the text in the Mapping Name column for this member. You do not have to choose from the Sections dialog.
OK Accepts your changes and dismisses the Mapping Sections dialog.
Remember: If you want to save your mapping selections, you must now select Mapping Settings > Save As.
Cancel Discards any changes and closes the dialog.
