Quick Offset

Quick Offset is a context sensitive option used to manipulate an asymmetrical component's rise and run characteristics. It is associated with both HVAC and plumbing transitions and HVAC takeoffs. To access the offset option menu, position the pointer is over the Offset Options property in the Data Group Properties panel, and in the value field select the pull down menu options.
Note: Additional options may appear in the option menu depending upon which component is being placed or modified.
Note: Help and Properties options are hard coded into the application, and are not determined by settings files like ContextMenu.xml
Note: The offset option menu does not apply to saddle fitting types like saddle tees, saddle crosses. Saddle fittings have their own unique set of DataGroup entries for the Offset Options property.

The Quick Offset dialog -the number in parenthesis indicates order the options are set

  • Rise — Used to set the geometry relative to the top and bottom portions of the component.
    • Top Flat - Sets the top to be flat.
    • Top Offset - Sets the rise between the top portions of the two ends using an offset value.
    • Top Angle - Sets the rise between the top portions of the two ends using an angle value.
    • Bottom Flat - Sets the bottom to be flat.
    • Bottom Offset - Sets the rise between the bottom portions of the two ends using an offset value.
    • Bottom Angle - Sets the rise between the bottom portions of the two ends using an angle value.
    • Symmetric Rise - Maintains symmetry in the component with respect to the top and bottom.
  • Run — Used to set the geometry relative to the top and bottom portions of the component.
    • Right Flat - Sets the right side to be flat.
    • Right Offset - Sets the run between the right sides of the two ends using an offset value.
    • Right Angle - Sets the run between the right sides of the two ends using an angle value.
    • Left Flat - Sets the left side to be flat.
    • Left Offset - Sets the run between the left sides of the two ends using an offset value.
    • Left Angle - Sets the run between the left sides of the two ends using an angle value.
    • Symmetric Run - Maintains symmetry in the component with respect to the left and right sides.
  • General — Used to set angle and symmetry for Offset Options property
    • Top Right Angle - Inserts a[angle value] for the property.
    • Limit Face Angle - Inserts a<[angle value] for the property.
    • Limit Face Angle Symmetric - Inserts s;a<[angle value] for the property.
    • Symmetric - Inserts s for the property
  • Apply — Applies offset options to the selected component.
  • Done — Completes modifications.
  • Reset — Clears all settings
  • Copy — Restores original offset options.
Quick Offset settings for takeoffs / taps Selecting the Quick Offset / Center Offset menu option opens the Quick Offset dialog.

  • Top — Sets the rise between the top of the takeoff and the top of the parent duct.
  • Bottom – Sets the rise between the bottom of the takeoff and the bottom of the parent duct.
  • Offset from Center — Used to set the rise value offset distance from parent duct centerline to takeoff centerline.
  • Apply — Applies offset options to the selected component.
