View Ribbon Tab

Tip: Click the to open the Display Styles dialog. Used to define and manage display styles in the active file and to view display styles available from DGN libraries.

View Attributes
Used to set view attributes that affect whether and how certain types and classes of elements display and whether certain drawing aids display.


Apply Display Style
Used to set the display mode for any view.

Window Area
Used to define the boundaries of a rectangular area of the active model to be displayed within a view.


Zoom Out
Decreases a view's magnification, making elements appear smaller.


Fit View
Adjusts the view magnification so that the entire model is visible in the view.


Update View
Updates the contents of a view window(s).


Zoom In
Increases a view window's magnification, making elements appear larger.


Pan View
Used to view a different part of the design without changing the view magnification.


Displayset Set
Displays the selected elements and hides all other elements in the view.
Displayset Tools

Displayset Add
Displays the selected elements and hides all other elements in the view.


Displayset Remove
Removes the selected elements from the displayset.


Displayset Clear
Clears the displayset to show all the elements in the view.


Rotate View
Used to rotate a view.


Left View
Change active view to left view.


View Previous
Undoes the last viewing operation (view control operation or view attribute change).


Top View
Change active view to top view.


Front View
Change active view to front view.


View Back
Change active view to back view.

Right Isometric View
Change active view to right-isometric view.


Bottom View
Change active view to bottom view.


Walk
Used to interactively "walk" through a 3D view of the bridge design.


Fly
Used to "fly" interactively through a 3D model.


Navigate View
Used to interactively move the view camera in a view.


View Right
Change active view to right view.


View Next
Redoes the last undone viewing operation.


Presentation Illustration
Sets the display style to Illustration:Modeling.


Presentation Shaded
Sets the display style to Smooth:Modeling.


Presentation Wireframe
Sets the display style to Wireframe.

Normal Camera
Set perspective in a view to match a normal camera lens.


Extra Wide Camera
Set perspective in a view to match an extra wide angle camera lens.


Telephoto Camera
Set perspective in a view to match a telephoto camera lens.


Two Point Projection
Set perspective in a view to two point projection.


Camera Off
Turn off a view camera.


Place Camera
Used to setup a view camera, in 3 point projection mode, by entering data points to define first the camera location, then the camera target location.


Change View Perspective
Used to interactively change the perspective angle of a view.
Define Camera

Define Camera
Used to set up a view for rendering, or to create saved views.


Camera Lens
Used to set up a camera lens in a selected view.


Focal Distance
Used to set the focal distance of the camera; the distance from the eyepoint to the image plane.


Photomatch
Matches known points in 3D space to corresponding points in a photograph, to determine the camera position, lens angle and target location.
Tip: Click the to open the Named Boundaries dialog. Used to manage named boundaries and named boundary groups.

Place Named Boundaries
Used to place one or more named boundaries and optionally create saved view(s) and automate dynamic views.

Tool name Description


Clip Volume
Used to limit the displayed volume for a view to the region within a clipping element. This is useful for working within a limited volume of a model without being hindered by geometry outside the region of interest.


Clip Mask
Used to mask the display of elements in a view that are located within the region of a clipping element.


Show/Hide Clip Volumne
Used to change the display of a view's clip volume element.


Clear Clip Volume
Used to clear the clip volume from the view.
Tip: Click the to open the Saved Views dialog. Used to create, update, apply, import, and delete saved views and edit properties of saved views. Saving a view allows you to quickly apply a view with specific attributes.

Create Saved View
Used to name and describe the view that you are saving.


Update Saved View Settings
Used to update the selected saved view.


Apply Saved View
Used to apply the saved view to the selected view or all open views.

Tool name Description


Copy View
Used to copy the contents of an entire view and its corresponding attributes to other views.


Cascade
Stacks view windows in numerical order with the lowest numbered window entirely visible and the title bar of each remaining window visible.


Tile
Tiles view windows between all docked windows and dialogs near the edges of the MicroStation window.


Arrange
Resizes all view windows so that they fit tightly within the available space without overlapping.


View Size
Used to control the size of the view.
Tip: Click the to open the Manage View Groups dialog. Used to create, edit, and delete view groups.

Tool name Description


Prev
Lets you access the previous model in the session history by clicking the left arrow. Alternatively, you can click the down arrow and select a previously accessed model from a drop-down list.


Next
Lets you access the next model in the session history by clicking the right arrow. Alternatively, you can click the down arrow and select the next model from a drop-down list.


All
Clicking the down arrow displays a drop-down list of all models accessed, from which you can select a model to open.


view numbers
Click the numbered buttons to open or close individual view windows (equivalent to choosing the numbered items in the View Groups ribbon group).


View Group
Displays the name of the view group as well as the model with which it is associated, and allows you select a different view group.
